Maybe not two of the most obvious brands to put together but in my opinion they both manage to create the same push pull effect.
How many times have you booked a Ryanair flight thinking “that was a bargain” and after the flight thought I’m not sure I want to do that again. The very same effect occurs when you think you want a Big Mac but regret it after about four bites. And yet you’ll go back to both, when the time and the offer is right.
The point is that both brands appeal to the consumer due to cost and convenience, something that Michael O’Leary knows and is proud of. Whether you love him or hate him, believe his comments are business strategy or purely for publicity, there is no argument against the fact he delivers on his aims and does exactly what he says he will – provide low-cost, no frills flights for everyone.
